QA & Usability
The Quality Assurance team at Mag Studio takes an active part in every project. Their aim is not so much to detect and rectify problems, but to prevent them by consulting our production teams, and advising them on various ways of avoiding potential problems. In this way, our QA experts are an inseparable part of the team behind every project.
What can the QA team guarantee?
• Early on in the project when working on the technical specification, our QA team makes sure that this all important document is completely clear, and it cannot be misinterpreted by the application developers or anyone else. This way we capture problems early on in the project.
• Our QA team plays a key role at the design stage of the project also. This is important as we need to make sure that the graphic concept reflects the business agenda of our client and fulfills the needs of the consumer. We also check that our designs are consistent with the accepted accessibility and usability standards, loading speed and possible integration with other product designs.
• We also test regularly through all stages of the project to make sure that we are sticking to all requirements in the technical specification as well as to standard performance and usability requirements.
• Prior to releasing the project, we conduct Acceptance Testing and User Acceptance Testing. The aim here is to demonstrate that the project is consistent with client requirements and the needs of the consumers. At this stage we remove any bugs also. User Acceptance Testing is a series of tests conducted by the client ensuring that the website or system meet their requirements.
Usability
Usability or ‘Usability testing' is for those clients who would like to improve the usability rating of their website or business system and for those who would like to receive an usability analysis before deciding on the right website or business system.
At Mag Studio we specialise in:
Usability analysis
Depending on the needs of the client we can offer usability analysis and comparative usability analysis. Based on rules that have been proven by practice regarding interface, navigation, contents structure, functionality and others, we analyze the current state of the website of system or perform a comparative analysis of similar websites or systems. The results are summarized in a document that lists positive and negative sides as well as an action plan for improvement.
Eye Tracker testing and consumer testing
The process consists of preparation, testing and results analysis. We specify the target groups and engage 5 to 10 representatives from each group who meet the requirements. Each participant receives a number of tasks through which we find common problems in the system that is being tested. We prepare questionnaires and interview the participants. They describe their experience - good and bad, of using the website or application. We then analyze the results and prepare a summary.
After the Eye Tracker tests we prepare heat maps (hot spots) which show the spots which users focus on the most, video clips recording each participant during the period of testing, patterns of viewing (gaze plots) and usability, showing how the users approach the site as well as a QA report.
